Synthesis Self-Assembly
|
Synthesis |
The Synthesis subgroup focuses on the construction of novel self-assembling molecules and their use in a range of functional applications, including optical, electronic and catalytic materials. Our interests cover a wide range of modern organic and polymer synthetic methodologies, including conjugated aromatic and heteroaromatic liquid crystals, elastomeric polymer coils, as well as carbohydrate, peptide, and nucleic acid segments borrowed from biology. Many of these molecules are amphiphiles that assemble into a diverse range of well-defined, nanoscale architectures. |
